I have too much faith to think the world is capable of returning to those dark times. The people are too powerful and wouldn't stand for it. A few would, but screw that cat head and his fabulosity. I used to feel a loss this time every year, but haven't for the last three years straight.

I've been searching to find ways to make a working jedi path for 10-11 years for now. I discarded fiction as I where it led people to. Instead of getting inspired by general ideals of jedi they tried to show themselves as jedi and usually more jedi than other jedi around them. This and other fallacies are human failings.

For me the jedi path is very clear. Search for betterment of self, service of greater good and study of mysteries of the universe. Comparing it to sithist path, it is the same plus devotion to be ready to help where you can with all that you have learned. Sithis path is a path of common man, seeking what anyone would like to have. Jedi path is as stark contrast to it as common man compared to buddhist saviors, bodhisattvas who swear to enlighten others before going for their own ultimate freedom and power.

This is a choice I once made. To go for my total freedom and power or come back to ordinary world and help others.

Thanks, Travis. I've not allowed these things to distract me from my path... It's just time to say what has already occurred within me, that breaking away from something that no longer works, and say so aloud and to others. This is something that's been going on for me well on two years now and it has been a struggle. It's been a good exercise to finally put pen to paper and work some of this out and share what new understandings I've gained with others, get feedback and continue to grow, change and walk the path. I really appreciate your comments and those of Derek too. Thanks!

Kate,
It sounds like the Jedi term is pretty much in the same boat as any term for any path. In time you will be able to write the same post about someone who identifies themselves as an Ashla Knight. It is beyond our control.
Paths are never set in stone and they are meant to provide a model, something to strive for. With humanity involved, paths change based on what the person wants and where they are at, for better or for worse.
As for the Jedi way, the Anderson code that you reference is fictional, you can change it. Think instead about the four (or five) things the code represents: Peace, Knowledge, Serenity, Harmony, and the Force. Also think about Jedi virtues such as patience, humility, and self-sacrifice.
The Jedi were horribly portrayed in the prequels, and even more so in the "online communities." Don't let shabby Hollywood script writing and people on the internet distract you from your path...

That's tough, losing two members so close together. I'm glad a little positivity made it's way into the mix of emotions. Healing to your family, Master Kate.
